DRINK & DINE

Inside the beautiful Treasury Building, Vandal is one of Warrington’s trendiest dining spots. Whether it is brunch, lunch or dinner, our contemporary bar and elegant dining space guarantees great food, great drinks and a great time.

Fuelled by unwavering passion for exceptional hospitality and unforgettable guest experiences Matthew, Jenny and Michael set up Vandal, their second venture together, in September 2022 with the aim of crafting moments that linger long after the last bite has finished.

The Food

Chef Patron, Matthew Carey, is driven by an insatiable passion for flavour and creativity with a devotion to the art of small plates and cooked to perfection steaks. Matthew serves an ambitious and imaginative menu to discerning diners who want to eat sociably and stylishly from breakfast through to late supper with cocktails. Drawing inspiration from the ever-changing seasons and up and coming trends, Matthew changes the menu regularly to ensure we always have a unique, stand out selection of dishes to choose from. The small plates are intended for sharing – a mix and match approach of delicious but unpretentious dishes, beautifully cooked and presented.

The Drinks

Our bar offers the most fabulous selection of wines and cocktails. Our bartenders, and owners, have a deep knowledge and expertise and an unwavering enthusiasm for creating perfectly balanced ancestrals, classics and funky twists on tasty tipples. With months spent studying cocktail diplomas, EBS qualifications, endless hours of research and a commitment to always be at the top of our game, we never settle for anything less than perfection in the glass. We were awarded Best Cheshire Bar in 2023 at the Taste Cheshire Awards which was a huge accolade to win in our first year of trading

The Space

Nestled in the heart of the Cultural Quarter, the Treasury Building on Palmyra Square is a unique setting with high ceilings and plenty of original features. Dine in the kitchen, where you can watch the chefs at work or sit in the bar with the roaring open fire. The dining room has a slightly more formal feel and the rooftop is a little oasis perched above town, offering an enchanted escape. Whether you are sipping under the stars or soaking in the sun, it is a gorgeous addition to our already funky space.

Shopping local isn’t just a trend – it is about investing in the community around you and as an independent restaurant, we are hugely passionate about staying local and supporting local suppliers wherever possible. Keep it local, keep it fresh and keep it fabulous – that’s our moto!

Bexley’s are a local family butchers with a national reputation serving award winning cuts from their five stores based in Merseyside. The meat is fantastic, not just in quality and flavour but also in consistency which is hugely important in order to ensure guests are getting the same dish every visit.

Daresbury Dairy ice cream is made with love and care at the farm in Daresbury, just 15 minutes from Vandal. All of their ice cream is made in small artisan batches using the finest ingredients and milk from their own dairy cows.

Not strictly local to Warrington, but local to us. Our family farm is up in Scotland and throughout the year, my parents and brother plant, grow and harvest a variety of veggies and edible flowers for us. Heritage carrots and beetroot, potatoes, courgettes, pickles, tomatoes, onions, garlic and all sorts of flowers you might find garnishing your drink or plate are delivered by my parents (any excuse to come and spend some time with grandson Kit) or collected by me on my monthly trips home. Home grown veggies, straight from the field, taste so much better.

CFUK are manufacturers of contract quality furniture with over 30 years experience in the industry and they are based right here in Warrington. The furniture is excellent, the choice of fabrics is unreal and we have never had anything but the best customer service. Everything from our tables and chairs to the bar top and the fixed seating has been made to measure especially for us.

Based in Penketh, the lovely team at the Laundry Room look after all our grubby washing. They are much better than the huge, national options out there.

All of the graffiti style artwork is designed and painted, free hand, by the most talented artist, Joe. We were introduced to him after he was commissioned to do some work for the Warrington Wolves stadium and we just loved his style. He has been back 3 times now to add to our collection and we absolutely love the quirky vibe it brings to our space.

Local artist and very loyal regular, Matt Grainger, is responsible for all the framed artwork and our graphic design. His style is quite unique and he knows us well enough to get the brief spot on every time which is a huge plus for us.
